Pastor Garon Harden loves the Lord with all his soul and with all his might. Saved May, 1964 and filled with the Holy Spirit, June 12, 1964, Dr. Harden yielded to the divine call to ministry, October 1965. Ordained as an Elder in 1978 by the Church of God in Christ (COGIC organization, under the leadership of the late Bishop J. A. Blake, Dr. Harden currently serves as pastor of the Greater Open Door Church of God in Christ and appointed as the District Superintendent of the Great Open Door District, under the leadership of Bishop Joe L Ealy, prelate of the Southern California First Jurisdiction, COGIC. Dr. Harden conducts revivals, seminars, and workshops in varying venues whenever called upon, and is currently the Jurisdictional Superintendent for the Greater Open Door District under the auspices of Southern California Jurisdiction number one. Dr. Harden conducts revivals, seminars and workshops in various fields whenever called upon. 

Dr. Garon Harden not only serves as pastor and founder of the Greater Open Door COGIC, but additionally serves in the following capacities:

  • Founder and Chancellor of the Long Beach Bible College
  • Media evangelist, spreading the Gospel of Christ via the Internet at GreaterOpenDoor.org
  • Radio broadcaster, five days per week, 8:45am to 9:00am on KTYM, 1460 on the AM Dial, for the surrounding cities of Los Angeles, California.
The importance of higher education has been a focal point of Dr. Garon Harden’s quest for effective ministry. Dr. Garon Harden earned a Ph.D. in Family Christian counseling and a Master of Divinity at M.T.I., as low receiving an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity and Bachelor of Theology from Southern California Bible College. As a graduate and alumni of Leadership Long Beach, a prestigious organization, Dr. Garon Harden is a prolific teacher, teaching at various bible Colleges since 1995, and continues to instruct at Long Beach Bible College.

Dr. Garon Harden is highly respected in the secular community. Visible political leaders call upon Him many times for prayer, counsel and advice.

Dr. Garon Harden models family devotion, married for forty-eight years to his childhood sweetheart, Evangelist Dr. Betty J. Harden. They are the proud parents of 5 children, 17 grand children and 6 great-grand children.
